Strand Test

Select approximately 1 inch strands of hair in a hidden area of your hair and apply the bleach. Leave it on for 30-60 minutes and monitor how your hair lifts. If the results are to your liking, proceed to the next section to learn how to bleach your whole head.

Patch Test

Select a small test area of skin behind the ear or in the inner fold of the elbow.
Wash the test area of skin with mild soap and water and dry with a clean towel.
Apply a thin coat of bleach to the test area and leave on for 30 minutes. Do not use the product on the person tested if there are any signs of irritation.

Bleaching Process

Step 1: Do the prep work

Put on your protective gear and start with hair that has not been washed in the last 1-2 days so that the natural oils can protect your scalp during bleaching.

Step 2: Section your hair using alligator clips

Section your hair into 4 smaller sections (pizza sectioning or orange slices sectioning, refer to video guide above). Secure the sections using alligator clips.

Step 3: Mix and apply

Mix bleaching cream and developer in 1: 1 ratio in the plastic bowl using the brush. Start with one of the bottom quadrants and take a horizontal small section of hair (about 0.5 cm height).

Apply a generous amount of bleach to the darkest parts of the hair / mids to ends of your hair. Avoid the hair 1cm closest to your scalp (your roots).

Repeat with next small section of hair within the same quadrant and move on to the next quadrant once done (do the bottom 2 sections before moving to the top 2 sections of hair).

After fully saturating the mids to ends, repeat the same sequence, this time applying bleach on the 1cm that was left out earlier (avoid the scalp).

Step 4: Let it process

The processing time could vary depending on how light you want your hair to lift to. Wait 30-50 minutes or until the overall hair colour is even / reaches your desired level of lightness. Remember to scrape the bleach off the hair to check the lightness and evenness of the hair.

Step 5: Wash off with lukewarm water and shampoo

Rinse gently with shampoo and warm water. Skip the conditioner if you’re dyeing your hair with Qwerky next. If not, condition your hair after shampoo. Dry your hair fully and viola, you’re done!

QwerkyTIP: Use purple shampoo to tone your hair if you're dyeing your hair with a cool tone Qwerky dye next to prevent it from fading green.

Step 6: Prepare for dyeing

Dry your hair fully and refer to the next section for hair dyeing instructions.
