Blackforest is a rich neutral dark brown, almost black that works well with various levels of hair lightness. It's able to cover up other shades of dyes and even leaves a brown tint on grey hair! The fading process for Blackforest is quite a unique one. It first fades from a super dark brown-almost black colour to a more obvious brown shade. From there, depending on how the dye reacts with your existing hair, it may turn a dark ash blue-green or fade to a warm brown colour. 

 

As Blackforest is super pigmented and long lasting, if you're the type who likes to change up their hair colour frequently, you can shorten the processing time or mixing it with our Suck It Up Hair Mask to make it less long lasting. The longer you leave it on, the darker it becomes and the longer it lasts. 


You can also use Blackforest to darken other dyes that may be too vibrant for your liking! Simply mix in a tiny bit of Blackforest at a time till you see the colour that you like and apply it on your hair. Blackforest is also great for doing creative colours such as peekaboo looks or chunky highlights especially if you have a full head of bleached hair and want to change up your look for a bit.

Lasting Power: 90 - 150 washes

Things to Note: Do avoid the skin when applying the hair dyes as it will cause staining. The colour will also bleed when your hair is wet, especially for the first few washes so do dry your hair after showering and use dark coloured clothes and towels. The colour bleeding will slow down as the dye fades off.

#QwerkyTIP: Dilute the shade with Suck It Up Colour Locking Hair Mask to get a ash grey shade. You can also mix a tiny bit of Blackforest to darken our other dyes. Always do a strand test before colouring your whole head.

How To Use?

STEP BY STEP:
1: PREP
Bleach your hair to achieve the most vibrant results. Make sure your hair is clean and dry before moving on to the next steps

2: SECTION
Divide hair into 4 sections & secure with alligator claw clips.

3: DYE
Take smaller sections of hair & apply the dyes generously with a brush or with your hands (while wearing gloves)

4: DEVELOPMENT TIME
Wait 10-30 minutes

6: RINSE
Rinse with lukewarm water and dry your hair with a dark coloured towel. Dry your hair and see the full vibrancy of your new hair colour

The final shade can be influenced by many factors including: current colour, condition, porosity, length and thickness of hair as well as any previous treatments. Please contact us before purchasing so we can better advise.

It is normal for the colour to bleed especially in the first few washes. Staining may also occur on skin and surfaces. Do use dark coloured towels and wear dark coloured clothes when stepping out of the shower.

Our dyes look best on bleached and toned hair.

You should carry out a skin sensitivity test 48 hours before using this product to check you are not allergic to it.

You should also do a strand test to check how your hair will look after using our dyes. Do not dye your hair if you don't like how your strand test looks or feels.

FAQ

Do your dyes work on unbleached hair?

Some do! Riot and Barbie appears as a dark red or pink hue on unbleached hair! We are working on developing more shades that show up on unbleached hair so do stay tuned!

How long do Qwerky Colour dyes last?

Our dyes have different amounts of lasting power but generally it lasts between 1-3 months. Do refer to the descriptions in the individual product listings for more information.

How many tubs do I need?

It depends on your hair length and thickness, but generally 1 tub (200ml) is sufficient to cover shoulder length hair. Do check out our hair length chart for more information 😊

Will Qwerky Colour damage my hair?

Nope! Our dyes are non-damaging and do not contain any harsh chemicals that dry out your hair.

When do Qwerky Colour products expire?
Do check the bottom of the tubs for the expiry date of the dyes. They can be kept up till expiry date if stored in a cool and dry place, away from sunlight.

Is Qwerky Colour cruelty free?
Yes, all of Qwerky Colour’s products are cruelty free.

Qwerky Colour is suitable for all hair types. Mixed Blackforest w Riot when doing the colour switch at Qwerky store and the colour turned out super nice! Hair dye did not have that weird chemical smell that other dyes usually have which i love!

I really really love my new hair!! It has been 1month ish and my hair is still blue. However, the black forest dye is fading already, but it could be due to the amount of time it was applied for. Overall, I love the service and ppl there and I will be back for a new hair colour!!

I'm in the midst of growing out my hair, and Blackforest is doing a good job at covering up my bleached ends! Leaving it on for 5 mins was already more than enough time for my hair to turn black, so I didn't have to spend so much time in the toilet 🤭

LOVE THIS

Blackforest is a dark rich colour, not so much jet black,but has a slight hinge of brown, perfect for hiding my previous dyes. The colour is fading to a silver colour because my previous hair colour was level 10! Makes me miss my black hair so much.
